Karyn Parsons (born August 9, 1968 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American actress. Her mother is African American and her father is Caucasian.


Karyn Parsons is best known for her role as valley girl Hilary Banks on the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which ran from 1990 to 1996.

Karyn Parsons was cast to co-star in the sitcom Lush Life in 1996 but it was cancelled after three episode.

Parsons has also appeared in such films as Major Payne and The Ladies Man.

She also appeared in The Job with Denis Leary.

Currently Karyn Parsons is producing a line of DVD animated films about notable unsung African-American heroes. The first in the series is Henry Box Brown. A story about a slave who mailed himself to freedoom.

Karyn Parsons is married to director Alexandre Rockwell since February 8, 2003 and they have one daughter.
