Matt Cutts started his career in search when working on his Ph.D at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His field of study was computer graphics and movement tracking, then moved into the field of information retrieval after taking outside classes from the university's Information and Library Science department. Matt did not complete the Ph.D before moving to Google, but acquired a M.S. degree.
Matt has a blog which is read by most web masters looking to gain an edge in the field of SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
Matt Cutts has begun creating Google Videos as a way of enhancing his blog. The videos usually have even more SEO detail than the daily posts he provides in the blog. As of August 4, 2006 - there were eight videos (listed below) - but he has been adding more since then.
