Michelle Williams (born on September 9, 1980) is an Academy Award-nominated American actress.

Michelle broke into stardom on the teen soap Dawson's Creek and has graduated from juvenile roles to a series of art house films, most recently in Brokeback Mountain.

Born in Kalispell, Montana, Michelle Williams is the eldest of the five children of Larry, a commodities broker, and Carla Williams, a homemaker.

When Michelle Williams was nine, her family moved to San Diego, California. Her mother took her to auditions in Los Angeles where Michelle Williams won her first film role, as a space alien who turned into a humanoid played by Natasha Henstridge in the movie Species (1995).

Michelle Williams graduated from high school at fifteen and was emancipated from her parents so she could pursue an acting career. Michelle Williams won several small roles before she was cast as Jen Lindley on Dawson's Creek, the part that would make her a star.

Michelle Win a screenshot from Brokeback Mountain, 2005On Dawson's Creek, her character, only fifteen, had been too much for her parents to handle, drinking, partying, and having s-- from age twelve, so she was exiled from her home in New York City to live in Capeside, Massachusetts with her maternal grandmother. Jen was everything her grandmother was not: jaded, cynical, irreligious, and more, leading to frequent arguments and her eventually being kicked out of the house. The show ran for six seasons, from 1998 to 2003.

Michelle Williams's first starring role in films was as Arlene in Dick, a satire of the Watergate scandal, in which she starred with Kirsten Dunst. Michelle Williams has been in a half-dozen subsequent films, some of them well-reviewed such as The Station Agent and Me Without You but few have been commercial successes.

Michelle Williams's biggest hits came from supporting roles in Halloween H20: 20 Years Later and Brokeback Mountain. For Mountain, Michelle Williams won a Critics Choice Award and received a Golden Globe, BAFTA and Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Michelle Williams is engaged to actor Heath Ledger and gave birth to their first daughter, Matilda Rose Ledger, on October 28, 2005. The couple met on the set of Brokeback Mountain, where they played husband and wife, and live in Brooklyn, New York.
